Eyewear Lens and Lens Treatment

At Clearfinity Eyecare Optometrist our goal is to help you achieve the clearest most comfortable vision that your eyes can achieve. A customized and accurate eyeglass prescription is the baseline but the type of lens and lens treatments can make a significant difference in your final visual experience. Whether you have vision insurance benefits or not, we offer the best lenses and lens treatments tailored to your specific needs in order to maximize clarity and comfort.

Remove your glasses with care. You can grab your glasses by the nose bridge between where your nose pads sit and pull forward. Or you can grab the both side temples of the frame using both hands and pull forward. Using one hand to remove your glasses can warp the frame over time. Any time you feel that your glasses are loose or not sitting straight, pay us a visit and our friendly optician will get your glasses back on track.

The following are types of quality lenses we offer and select based on your needs:

Eyezen Lenses

Eyezen lenses are enhanced single vision lenses designed to reduce digital eye strain, particularly for those who spend a lot of time using digital devices. They offer sharper vision than traditional single vision lenses and incorporate features to help with eye fatigue caused by screens.

Varilux Progressives

Varilux is a brand of advanced, line-free progressive lenses from Essilor that corrects presbyopia, providing seamless vision correction for distance, intermediate, and near vision. Key features include W.A.V.E. Technology for clear vision, extended intermediate vision with Xtend™ technology, and eye-responsive technology in the latest XR series and Physio Extensee series to achieve specific visual needs at all ranges of vision. Varilux offers different lens types, such as Varilux Comfort, Physio, and X Series, with personalized options available to suit individual needs for visual comfort and adaptation.

Office progressives

Office progressives, also known as workspace or computer progressives, are specialized progressive lenses designed for indoor use, particularly for tasks like computer work, reading, and other activities that require clear vision at near and intermediate distances. Unlike full progressives, they prioritize these intermediate and near zones, offering a wider field of vision for those tasks and reducing eye and neck strain associated with prolonged computer use.

Photochromic Lenses

Photochromic lenses are eyeglass lenses containing molecules that reversibly darken when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, such as sunlight, and then return to a clear, transparent state when the light source is removed. This light-adaptive technology adjusts the lens's tint to match the intensity of the light, effectively acting as both eyeglasses and sunglasses, and offering protection from harmful UV rays indoors and out. Transitions Gen S is the latest and most common brand of photochromic lenses that currently offer the fastest change along with multiple color options beyond the standard dark grey and brown.e.

Antireflective (Anti-glare)

An anti-reflective (AR) coating is a microscopic layer applied to lens surfaces, like glasses, camera lenses, or phone screens, that reduces reflections and glare by using destructive interfence. This improves visual clarity by allowing more light to pass through the lens, providing sharper vision and a more comfortable viewing experience for the user. It is especially essential for computer users and for night vision. However, quality in anti-glare treatments vary considerably. Cheaper made types tend to cause lenses to get dirty quicker and are more likely to peel over a short period of time. Quality types of anti-glare, like the Crizal family of anti-glare we offer, are easier to clean and have much better scratch resistance with proper use of your eyewear and cleaning methods - as such we offer a two year warranty on lenses that contain this product.

Thickness Of Lenses

The higher your eyeglass prescription, the thicker and heavier your lens can become. Fortunately we offer options to help make your lenses as thin and lightweight as possible. Most lenses we use are made of an impact resistant material called polycarbonate or a trivex. For the average prescription this type of material offers a combination of strength and thinness. As such this is the material of choice for anyone under 18. For higher, thicker prescriptions Hi-index lenses are the better choice as it offers less distortion, is thinner, and very lightweight. The downside is that hi-index lenses are not as strong as polycarbonate or trivex, which is why this option is reserved for adults and people who are not too harsh on their glasses.

Polarized sunglasses

Polarized lenses contain a chemical film that filters light, blocking horizontally oriented light waves that cause glare from surfaces like water, snow, and roads. This reduces eye strain, improves clarity and contrast, and allows for more comfortable and natural vision in bright conditions, though it can also distort images on LCD screens and is not suitable for driving at night or in other low-light situations. These lenses are best for driving on a bright sunny day, snow activities, beach activities, boating/fishing, and certain sports where glare can reduce your performance. Sunglasses can be made with your eyeglass prescription to maximize your clarity and make it easier to tolerate the darkness of the lens.

Blue Light Protection

This add-on feature in lenses has mixed opinions. Overall, this feature has shown to be beneficial for some and has no negative effect. As such, for those who are interested, we offer blue light protection in lenses as a means to help with eye strain and fatigue when looking at devices. Blue light paired with anti-glare and a customized eyeglass prescription can together have a larger impact in reducing eye strain and fatigue rather than just blue light protection on its own.
